Rain cancels June 14th "Fantastic Five" Action; Ollie's 360
Challenge and MACS Late Models Up Next
Hartford, OH
June 14, 2008 Severe thunderstorms Friday night and a
persistent drizzle throughout Saturday morning and afternoon forced
Sharon Speedway officials to cancel the racing activities for
Saturday, June 14th. "As the price of fuel continues to increase we
want to do our best insure that the race teams and fans do not
travel needlessly," stated Race Director Karl Best. "With a steady
rain still falling at 2:00PM and threatening weather in the area, we
felt it was best to cancel this evening's racing action."
The Ollie's Bargain Outlet 360 Challenge is up next on the Sharon
Speedway schedule this Tuesday, June 17th. The $6,000.00 to win
event will feature some of the nation's best 360 Sprint car drivers
in action along with NASCAR Stars Dave Blaney, Kasey Kahne and Tony
Stewart. Race fans will also be invited to join Blaney, Kahne and
Stewart in a "Memory Walk" around the Hartford, OH oval with all of
the proceeds from the walk benefiting the Greater East Ohio Area
Alzheimer's Association
Next Saturday's racing action at Sharon Speedway will feature the
MACS Late Model Series in action for the second annual 'Triton 50'
paying $5,000.00 to-win. A strong field of Late Model drivers are
expected to be in competition including defending MACS Champion
Jason Covert, Franklin, PA driver Matt Lux, "The Titusville Terror"
Robbie Blair and local driver Russell King, who is competing for the
Series Rookie of the Year honors.
The MACS Series has made four visits to Sharon Speedway since
1997. Previous winners of the MACS events include Todd Andrews,
Scott Haus, Chub Frank and Blair, who won the last MACS event held
at the speedway in 2006.

Limited Sprints and the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service E-Mods will
also be on the card. The Warren Harley-Davidson 410 Sprint Cars,
Gibson-Governor Insurance Agency Modifieds and the Tight-Seal Glass
Block Pure Stocks will have next Saturday evening off.
