Steve Barnett Racks Up Fourth Crate Late Model Triumph at Brownstown!

(FRANKLIN, INDIANA)  For the fourth time in the 2008 racing season, Steve Barnett has reached victory lane in GMR Crate Late Model action at the hallowed Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana.  Steve ran second in his heat race on Saturday night, June 21 at Brownstown, which earned the Franklin, Indiana native the outside front row starting spot for the $900 to win A-Main.  During the course of the main event, Steve tracked down leader Steve Godsey on lap ten and led the remainder of the race en route to the victory over Shannon Reed, Jason Setser, Godsey, and Justin Shaw. You can view complete results from the 1/4-mile, semi-banked oval online at www.brownstownspeedway.com.

“Everything with our Crate Late Model program is clicking right now,” commented Barnett earlier in the week.  “The car has been awesome all year and we are making the right decisions on tires, which is critical.  Hopefully, we can carry this momentum into next week and get another Lee Fleetwood Memorial title!”

The driver known as the “Franklin Flyer” will travel down I-65 once again this Saturday night, June 28 to compete in the annual ‘Lee Fleetwood Memorial’ at Brownstown.  The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series will sanction the tenth annual event and a $3,000 top prize is up for grabs.  Steve is a three-time winner of the race, as he took the checkers back in 1999, 2002, and 2005.  You can learn more about this show online at www.battleofthebluegrass.com.
