Rick Eckert Breaks WOOLMS Drought with Victory at Autodrome Drummond!

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) After going through a stretch of 71 World of Outlaws Late Model Series races without a win, Rick Eckert re-familiarized himself with WOOLMS victory lane last Saturday night, June 21 at Autodrome Drummond in the second annual running of the ‘Quebec 50.’ Rick, aboard a Raye Vest-owned GRT chassis that he debuted in the “Great Northern Tour” opener on June 17 at the Port Royal (PA) Speedway, led all fifty laps of the ‘Quebec 50’ from his outside front row starting spot to record the win over Tim McCreadie, Darrell Lanigan, Shane Clanton, and Josh Richards.

The driver known as “Scrub” pocketed $10,000 for the victory north of the border, which marked the first time he has visited WOOLMS victory lane since July 8, 2006 at the Sharon (OH) Speedway!

“To say I am thrilled to have that giant monkey off of my back would be an understatement,” exclaimed Eckert today. “The first half of the race at Autodrome the track was racy, but it started to rubber up late in the race. I had to work pretty hard in lapped traffic to get the win, but it worked out for us finally. I am just glad the winless streak is over now and hopefully the next win is right around the corner!”

Aside from the triumph at Autodrome, the Raye Vest Racing team has been especially strong throughout the first half of the “Great Northern Tour.” Rick finished eleventh at the Port Royal (PA) Speedway on June 17 after pitting on lap four, third at the Ohsweken (Canada) Speedway on June 20, and fifth at the Cornwall (Canada) Motor Speedway on June 22. The string of consistent finishes has moved the York, Pennsylvania driver up to the third spot in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings. Rick and his #24 team will continue the “Great Northern Tour” this week with three more series events in New York and Pennsylvania. The week will be highlighted by the $40,000 to win ‘Firecracker 100’ at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday, June 27-28.
